West Oxfordshire District Council has welcomed 20-year-old kickboxing champion, India Mae, as their new Youth Champion.

Halloween is less than a week away and with an estimated 22 million pumpkins - worth £32 million - expected to be wasted this year, West Oxfordshire District Council is inviting residents to make the most of this particularly versatile autumn fruit.

Businesses in rural locations in West Oxfordshire are being invited to submit ideas for projects to be potentially funded from a £716,216 pot of funding from the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).

West Oxfordshire District Council passed a motion to show its full support for the Government’s Climate and Ecology Bill at a meeting of Full Council last night, Wednesday 19 October 2022.

West Oxfordshire District Council has opened up a new grants scheme for local organisations to apply for up to £1000 of funding to support their work helping local residents through the cost of living crisis.

Three councils who work in partnership to deliver local services are calling on the Government to do more to support the Homes for Ukraine scheme. This Government scheme, set up earlier this year, currently only covers 12 months, with councils left to support the guests and hosts thereafter.

Residents living in West Oxfordshire are asked to check the suitability of their waste for recycling before it goes in the blue-lidded wheeled bin or, in the case of glass, the black kerbside box, as the District Council lends its voice to this year’s national Recycle Week (17-23 October).

Residents will be asked how new housing developments in their area can make a positive contribution to the quality of life for communities, as West Oxfordshire launches a consultation to find out what people think should be funded on the ground in the district. 

"Investment in our local area is something West Oxfordshire District Council is always looking to generate but it has to be the right type of investment.

Residents of West Oxfordshire District Council are being invited to take part in a photo competition to help the council refresh the photographs within the public areas of the council buildings, website and other areas to show the district in its best light.

The Council will today start a consultation on the Planning Inspector’s feedback on the plans for the new Salt Cross Garden Village, north of the A40 near Eynsham.
