New ‘Business Boost’ grant set to power up local enterprises in West Oxfordshire

The Business Boost Grant is funded through the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and is aimed at supporting capital projects that deliver long-lasting value. It enables businesses to make strategic investments -such as purchasing equipment, expanding operations, or adopting cleaner technologies, that support their future. 

The grant has been designed to support rural enterprises that want to increase productivity, explore new products or services, or improve how they work. It also aims to strengthen local supply chains, improve access to infrastructure and digital tools, and create new employment and skills opportunities. By focusing on practical, long-term investments, the scheme also supports the Council’s goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions. By focusing on capital investment, the scheme contributes to a more resilient rural economy while contributing towards the Council’s net-zero goals. 

Councillor Duncan Enright, Executive Member for Economic Development, said:

“This grant scheme is the latest opportunity for businesses to grow and build up long-term resilience. Whether it’s upgrading equipment, expanding facilities, or adopting low-carbon technologies, the Business Boost Grant is here to help local enterprises thrive.” 

A total of £25,000 has been allocated to the scheme. Individual grants of up to £5,000 are available, so the grant will be highly competitive, with applicants required to provide at least 25% match funding from their own resources. To be eligible, businesses must have been trading for a minimum of six months and projects must take place within the West Oxfordshire District. The funding is restricted to capital investments that have a minimum expected lifespan of five years, such as the purchase of new equipment, infrastructure improvements, or construction works. Operational costs such as salaries, rent, and consumables are not eligible for support. 

Applications for the Business Boost Grant will open on 15 September 2025 and close on 26 September 2025. All approved projects must be fully completed by 28 February 2026. These timelines are set in accordance with the rules of the REPF and UK Shared Prosperity Fund, and applicants are strongly advised to plan carefully to ensure they can meet the required deadlines.
