Leader of the Council, Andy Graham

Working in partnerships is the key to meeting Council ambitions

West Oxfordshire District Council is committing to working in partnership with other councils and organisations across the county and the wider area to help improve West Oxfordshire and meet the challenges faced by society.

Councillor Andy Graham, Leader for West Oxfordshire District Council, said, “We fundamentally believe that by working together we achieve so much more than by working in isolation. That could be as local as groups coming together to deliver for a community or councils working with universities, business and others to boost the economy.

“We are proud to be part of a wide range of partnerships, working together to tackle some of the challenges of our time such as the climate emergency or the housing crisis.

“We are starting to see some real positive change and as your local council we will continue to put forward the views of West Oxfordshire and work with other organisations to pool our resource and deliver for our area.

“Not only that but we can give a united voice to the Government and other organisations to promote the region and push for the change we would like to see.”

Through playing a part in a wide range of partnerships the Council is able to influence on behalf of West Oxfordshire residents and gain access to additional funding, help shape plans for the future of the area, gain expertise for other organisations and pool resources to get better value for money.

West Oxfordshire District Council is part of many strategic partnerships including:

  • Future Oxfordshire Partnership which includes the six main councils in Oxfordshire, working together to deliver a bold vision for housing in the county, help boost the local economy and support nature
  • The Oxford to Cambridge Partnership which looks to grow the regional economy in an environmentally sustainable way through building on the strengths and relationships between the oxford and Cambridge areas.
  • South East Councils where local authorities work together tackle the priority issues for the area, making the case to Government, industry and the media for the South East
  • Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership where councils work with businesses to create jobs and help the local economy thrive.
