Woodstock Open Air Pool set for extended summer season
Woodstock Open Air Pool is preparing to welcome residents and visitors for an extended 14-week summer season, with a mix of cool water and heated swimming sessions running from Saturday 23 May until Sunday 30 August 2026.
Cllr Tim Sumner, Executive Member for Arts, Culture and Sports, said: “Woodstock Open Air Pool is a much-loved community facility, and it is fantastic to see such a varied programme planned for the summer season. Whether people want to enjoy an early morning swim, spend time with family during the holidays or take part in fitness sessions and activities, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
“We know how important accessible leisure opportunities are for supporting health and wellbeing and we are pleased to continue providing a welcoming outdoor leisure space for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the summer months.”
The season will begin with a cool water swimming programme from Saturday 23 May until Sunday 19 July. During this period, weekday sessions will run from 7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm, with weekend sessions from 8am until midday. Additional twilight sessions may also be added depending on weather and daylight conditions.
From Monday 20 July until Sunday 30 August, the pool will move into its warm water programme to coincide with the school summer holidays. Opening hours are from 7am until 7pm on weekdays and 9am until 5pm at weekends, with the potential for later evening sessions during periods of high demand and good weather.
A wide range of activities will be available throughout the season, including Swim for All sessions, lane swimming, Aqua Play, Family Fun Swims, women-only swims, senior and inclusive sessions, Aqua Aerobics and pool parties. Families will also be able to enjoy the toddler splash pool throughout the summer season, and swimming and diving lessons may also be offered, subject to staff availability.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy garden games on the lawn area, including football goals, badminton, swingball and giant garden games, depending on available space.
Food and drink will be available throughout the season. During the cool water swimming period, visitors will be able to purchase hot drinks and snacks from reception. During the summer holiday period, the on-site café will provide a variety of food and drink options.
Opening times and activity information will be available on the Better UK website. Walk in sessions are available every day, but to avoid possible queues or oversubscribed sessions, it is recommended that you book in advance online or via the Better UK app.
