Westhive backs 14 more community projects in final funding round

Fourteen local projects across West Oxfordshire have received support in the sixth and final round of Westhive, helping ideas grow and communities thrive.

A total of £78,223 has been pledged in this round, supporting projects focused on wellbeing, community spaces, the environment and local services. Several projects are still crowdfunding, and residents are encouraged to support them.

The projects include Chipping Norton Theatre Arts for Elders, the Community Clubhouse Revamp Initiative in Witney, counselling support for young people, new orchards for people and wildlife, and improvements to village halls and community spaces. Other projects will support food networks, local transport, sports facilities, and activities for children and young people.

Together, these projects highlight the strength of community-led ideas across the district and the difference they make to everyday life.

Over the past three years, Westhive has supported 52 projects across West Oxfordshire. The Council has pledged £281,501 through the programme, alongside £363,680 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This funding has brought local ideas to life and delivered real benefits for residents.

Westhive has played an important role in putting funding decisions into the hands of communities, supporting projects that improve health and wellbeing, reduce isolation, protect the environment and strengthen local facilities. This reflects the council’s commitment to working together and helping residents enjoy a good quality of life.

Councillor Tim Sumner, Executive Member for Arts, Culture and Sports, said: “Westhive has shown what is possible when communities come together with passion and ideas. Crowdfunding has given residents a real voice in shaping their areas, and we want to build on that success. We are working on the next phase of community funding in new ways and will be sharing more information later this year, so please keep an eye on our channels.”

As the final round progresses, the Council will continue to celebrate the achievements of Westhive and the many groups involved. The programme has helped strengthen community action and collaboration across West Oxfordshire, with lasting benefits beyond the programme.

The Council is now developing the next phase of community funding, with more details to be shared later this year. Residents are encouraged to follow council channels for updates on the new programme and to support current projects by visiting the Westhive platform and helping them reach their fundraising goals.
