Local people invited to have their say on Witney and Chipping Norton markets

West Oxfordshire residents, businesses and market visitors are being invited to share their views on charter markets in Witney and Chipping Norton through a new public survey.

Councillor Duncan Enright, Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Economic Development, said: "Our charter markets have been at the heart of Witney and Chipping Norton for generations, bringing people together, supporting local traders and adding character and life to our town centres. We are proud of the diverse mix of stalls on offer and the vibrant atmosphere they create each week. Since the appointment of Cotswold Markets, we want to hear from residents about what is working well and what else they would like to see. This is an opportunity for us to build on what makes our markets unique and special, helping them continue to thrive for local people, visitors and businesses alike."

The survey aims to understand people’s experiences of the markets, what they enjoy about them and what improvements they would like to see in the future.

Witney Charter Market takes place every Thursday and Saturday in Market Square, while Chipping Norton Charter Market is held every Wednesday on the High Street. Together, the markets offer a wide range of stalls, including fresh produce, food and drink, clothing, gifts, household goods and speciality products from independent traders.

Residents, visitors and local businesses are encouraged to share their thoughts on the current market offer, including the types of stalls, products and experiences they would like to see. The feedback will help the Council and market operators understand what matters most to local communities and identify opportunities to strengthen the markets in the future.

By taking part in the survey, residents can help ensure the markets continue to meet the needs and interests of local people while supporting a lively and inclusive environment for visitors of all ages.

The survey is available online. It takes only a few minutes to complete and will remain open until 12pm on Monday 13 July.
