Westhive

Imagine It, Crowdfund It: The next funding round for Westhive is open!

West Oxfordshire District Council has launched the Spring funding round of its community crowdfunding initiative, Westhive, inviting residents to submit their project ideas to create thriving, inclusive, and better connected communities.

Cllr Duncan Enright, Deputy Leader of West Oxfordshire District Council, said:

“With over £30,000 already pledged to projects from our Autumn 2023 funding round, we are pleased to be reopening the floor to more of your fantastic community project ideas.

“The interest so far has been excellent, with nearly 30 people attending our creator’s workshop hosted by Spacehive back in February. The creativity and passion expressed was truly inspiring, and we look forward to seeing some of the projects discussed begin to take shape and capture the hearts of our communities.

“No matter how big or small your project ideas are, we encourage anyone with ideas that will benefit our communities to apply. And to our young people, we strongly urge you to bring forward your ideas too. With funding set aside for projects aimed at or brought forward by young residents, we hope to hear from you and help you drive the changes you want to see in your community.”

Following the launch of Westhive in September 2023, the Council has pledged almost £30k to four projects that will help improve communities across the district. Cycles of Good was the first project to meet its crowdfunding target in February, unlocking £4,353 of funding from the Council to help break down financial barriers and give less advantaged families access to bikes. Cotswolds Arts Through Schools is the second project to reach its funding target and receive a pledge from the Council to support it in providing art, music, and drama opportunities in local primary schools.

Westhive aims to pledge and support innovative and impactful projects that allow residents to influence and make a real difference in our communities. Whether it's a sports club, a community garden, or hosting big events, Westhive is here to help bring your vision to life. Most importantly, projects need to be clear and tangible, showing backers exactly where their money will go. The more people your idea appeals to, the better your campaign’s chances of success. The deadline for applications for the Spring round is Wednesday 24 April. Projects must be fully costed and permissions secured by this date. To learn more about Westhive or to create a project, visit: https://www.spacehive.com/movement/westhive/
