Fun-filled day of activities enjoyed at Windrush Leisure Centre
The Windrush Leisure Centre welcomed a full house during its Non-Members Open Day on Saturday 23 March, as attendees enjoyed a range of free activities, including 10 fitness classes, swim sessions, gym inductions, and health checks.
Giles Hughes, Chief Executive Officer for West Oxfordshire District Council, said:
“On behalf of West Oxfordshire District Council, I would like to thank our partners, Better Leisure UK, and the team at the Windrush Leisure Centre for hosting this highly successful event for our residents.
“We are pleased to hear that so many people took part in activities and showed enthusiasm in embracing more physical and healthy lifestyles. Our leisure centres across the district offer such an array of opportunities and high-quality facilities, so it is great to see that people have grasped this chance to explore what they have to offer and experience new things.”
Throughout the day, 16 sessions were held, featuring a variety of activities such as swimming, group cycling, boxfit, HIIT, yoga, dance fitness, kettlebells, body conditioning, pilates, and power pump. In total, there were 317 class attendances, with approximately 75% of participants being non-members. Many existing members brought along family and friends to sample some of the activities on offer.
Alongside free fitness classes and swim sessions, walk in gym inductions were also available, as well as free health checks. People also had the opportunity to talk to members of staff at the centre, to discuss various membership options and offer feedback on the centre and the things they would like to see in the future.
Lou Cable, General Manager of the Windrush Leisure Centre, said, "It was great to see so many new faces at our open day. We had a fantastic turn-out, with most visitors willing to try new activities - sometimes more than one! We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our centre."
