Fly-tippers pay the price in Carterton
Fly-tippers have been tracked down and penalised after an incident in Carterton.
Council officers attended reports of fly-tipping at the ‘bring site’ recycling bank on Black Bourton Road and were able to track down the offenders from an address on the dumped items.
They have now been served with a fixed penalty notice for £400 after admitting the offence.
The news has been welcomed by Cllr Norman MacRae, Cabinet Member for the Environment at the Council.
He said: “These people have blatantly disregarded the law on fly-tipping and will pay the price.
“It should serve as a warning to anyone considering dumping their rubbish illegally. We will prosecute and that policy has not changed because of the COVID-19 epidemic.”
