Festive fun to return to Marriotts Walk with extended Christmas Market
Witney’s festive spirit is set to shine again this year as the Marriotts Walk Christmas Market returns for an extended run after last year’s sparkling success. Back by popular demand, the market, run by Cotswold Markets, will take place from Thursday 5 December to Sunday 8 December, offering four full days of festive treats, trinkets, and tipples for visitors to enjoy.
Councillor Duncan Enright, Executive member for Economic Development at West Oxfordshire District Council, said: “Thanks to your feedback from last year, we’re thrilled to be welcoming Cotswold Markets back to Marriotts Walk to run the Witney Christmas Market for an extended four-day event this year, so visitors can soak up the festive magic for a little longer.
“Last year’s market was a tremendous success, with over 15,000 visitors flocking to Marriotts Walk across the weekend, and footfall to the centre more than doubling that of the previous year. The market not only brings festive joy to the town but also provides a real boost to our local economy by driving footfall and supporting local traders. We’re excited to see how this year’s event will build on that success and look forward to welcoming even more visitors to Witney during the Christmas season.
“This Christmas market is part of our wider strategy to invigorate West Oxfordshire’s town centres. By hosting events like these, we’re helping to create vibrant, bustling town centres that encourage people to visit, shop, and spend more time in the area and enjoy all it has to offer. This year’s market promises to be another triumph, and visitors can expect over 30 stalls, selling everything from handmade crafts and unique gifts to tasty seasonal food and festive drinks.
