Councillor Rachel Crouch appointed Mental Health Champion for West Oxfordshire
Councillor Rachel Crouch was yesterday appointed the Mental Health Champion for West Oxfordshire District Council as part of her Executive portfolio.
As Executive Member for Stronger Healthy Communities, Councillor Crouch plays an important leadership role for Mental Health in West Oxfordshire, with a focus on helping reduce stigma and improving understanding around mental health, alongside advocating for the mental health and wellbeing of communities across the district. By making her Mental Health Champion as well, the Council is looking to strengthen the focus on this important topic.
Rachel Crouch, Executive Member for Stronger Healthy Communities, said: “Improving the mental health and wellbeing of our residents is important for our communities, and I am delighted to become the mental health champion for West Oxfordshire as part of my Executive portfolio.
“As community health lead for the district, we play a key role in the delivery of a range of health and wellbeing services for residents. We will continue to advocate for our residents and communities with our key partners in the health and voluntary sectors, pushing for the awareness and support needed in our communities.
Councillor Andy Graham, Lead of the Council, said, “We recognise the impact mental health conditions have in our communities and also the difference that local leadership makes in advocating for the services we need.
“I am pleased to appoint Cllr Crouch to this role to raise the profile of mental health and wellbeing in local communities and forge links with other leaders to collaborate and take actions that tackle some of the widest and most entrenched inequalities in health.”
