Council awards community grants to support local projects and community groups
Voluntary sector organisations across the District are set to be awarded key grant funding from the Council to help support them in delivering support for local communities. The Council is distributing £187,851 to 13 local groups and projects.
Cllr Jane Doughty, Cabinet Member for Customer Delivery said, “I am very pleased to say we are able to give out this grant funding to groups and projects across West Oxfordshire to help them to continue to deliver great work in our communities.
“Through our budget setting process we made sure to continue this funding. The organisations have been able to demonstrate to us the value they are adding across our district and it is important we help these amazing local organisations when funding streams are coming harder for them to come by.
“The organisations we support help across a wide range of areas from protecting the environment to supporting people with additional needs. They all do a brilliant job and we are happy to be able to support them with their work.”
The Council has agreed to give out grant funding to the following organisations:
- Thomas Gifford Trust (£5,700)
- Wild Oxfordshire (£2,000)
- Community First Oxfordshire (£12,000)
- Cotswold Conservation Board (£10,300)
- Volunteer Link Up (£12,000)
- Home-Start Oxford (£5,000)
- My Life My Choice (£4,251)
- Chipping Norton Theatre (£25,900)

- Home-Start Banbury (£2,900)
- Wychwood Project (£30,000)
- Age UK (£10,000)
- Citizens Advice West Oxfordshire (£62,800)
The Council also reviewed the Community Revenue Grant (CRG) scheme in order to address the long term security of funding for key organisations, meet the current needs of residents and encourage innovative proposals.
In the near future a review of community grants will also be conducted to explore other methods of delivery or changing priorities of residents post Covid.
In total, the Council will award £187,851 of its overall budget for revenue grants.
