Car park upgrades underway across the district with lines being repainted
West Oxfordshire District Council is repainting parking bay lines in its car parks across the district to keep them safe, clear and easy to use.
The work is part of ongoing improvements to the Council’s free car parks. In recent years, the Council has improved signs, added electric vehicle charging points and changed parking time limits to better meet the needs of residents and businesses.
The Council has already completed line repainting at its car park in Charlbury. Black Bourton car park in Carterton and Albion Street car park in Chipping Norton are also due to have their lines repainted in the coming months. The next car park to be repainted is Woodford Way in Witney this week.
Councillor Alistair Wray, Executive Member for Environment, said: “We are proud to offer free car parking across the district, and we know how important these spaces are to residents, visitors and local businesses.
"We are working hard to provide a good quality parking experience and this relining programme follows on from other improvements made over recent years. Repainting the lines will help make our car parks safer and easier to use.
"We would like to thank residents for their patience while this work takes place.”
Woodford Way car park in Witney will be closed for two days from 25th August while the lines are repainted. Drivers can use Marriotts Walk car park, just across the road. It has more than 600 spaces, including 150 long-stay spaces on levels 7 and 8. For those two days long stay will also be permitted on levels 4 to 6.
There are also more than 800 spaces in other car parks around Witney. Drivers are asked to plan ahead and use another nearby car park during the closure.
Dates for repainting in Black Bourton car park in Carterton and Albion Street car park in Chipping Norton will be confirmed in the coming months.
